Halloween and spooky season is an easy favourite time of year for crochet patterns. The crochet community moves quick to Halloween so what better time to share some mash-up patterns to make the most of my chubby buddy patterns!

Below you will find some fun mods to add a witch hat to your chubby buddies, a zombie mod, a free black cat pattern, and a clown mash-up!

Let's get started!

- Witch Hat:
- Bernat Blanket - Lead
- Black Cat:
- Bernat Blanket - Lead
- Medium weight (4) in pink - small amount for embroidering the nose
- Medium weight (4) in white - small amount for embroidering the whiskers
- Clown Cat:
- Bernat Blanket - Lead
- Bernat Baby Blanket - Mellow Mauve
- Bernat Blanket - Moss
- Bernat Baby Blanket - Bubble Blue
- Medium weight (4) in pink - small amount for embroidering the nose
- Zombie Bunny:
- Premier Basix Chenille - Sage
- Bernat Blanket - Lead
- Medium weight (4) in black - small amount for embroidering the stitches
OTHER MATERIALS:
- 6.5 mm crochet hook
- 12 mm safety eyes
- scissors
- tapestry needle
- fiberfill stuffing
- stitch marker
ABBREVIATIONS (US terms)*:
- ch = chain
- FLO = front loop only
- inc = increase
- sc = single crochet
- st(s) = stitch(es)

HELPFUL NOTES*:
- I crochet using the yarn over/yarn over method.
- This pattern mod will work for any Cosy Chubby Buddy

ADD A WITCH HAT
Materials: 6.5 mm hook and black yarn.
Patterns used: I used my Owl Chubby Mini Buddy and my Duck Chubby Mini Buddy!
Notes: The hat is worked from the top down.
PATTERN
Round 1 – 4 sc in a magic circle (4)
Round 2 – inc, 3 sc (5)
Round 3 – (1 sc, inc) x 2, 1 sc (7)
Round 4 – (1 sc, inc) x 3, 1 sc (10)
Round 5 – (1 sc, inc) x 5 (15)
Round 6 – 1 sc in each st around (15)
HAT BRIM
Round 7 – FLO (1 sc, inc) x 7, 1 sc (22)
Round 8 – (2 sc, inc) x 7, inc (30)
Bind off and leave a long tail for sewing onto the animal.
ATTACHING
Weave the finishing tail to the front loops (round 7) and attach on the head where you like best using the front loops.

MAKE A BLACK CAT
Materials: 6.5 mm crochet hook and black yarn, small amount of pink yarn (for the nose) and small amount of white yarn (for the whiskers).

MAKE A CLOWN CAT
Materials: 6.5 mm hook and black yarn.
Patterns to follow: Clown Chubby Mini Buddy Pattern and my FREE Black Cat Mod.
How to make it:
- Make the cat's ear (only one ear is needed if you're attaching the hat on the other side of the head).
- Work the cat's head from rounds 1 to 6.
- Work the clown's body from rounds 7 to 11.
- Work the clown's frill, arms, legs, complete hat, and face embroidery
- Sew on the cat's ear and embroider the cat's nose. I did not add the whiskers.
- Sew on the clown hat.

MAKE A ZOMBIE BUNNY
Materials: 6.5 mm hook and yarn colours, green + black
Patterns to follow: Bunny Chubby Mini Buddy

Modifications:
- Make the entire bunny in green.
- Add one black ear, one black arm, and one black leg, add one green ear, one green arm, and one green leg.
- Embroider an "x" for an eye and stitches on the side of the belly.
