Cosy Snugglers have been well loved since 2022. My goal when designing crochet patterns is to offer simple designs and user friendly patterns. I think it's time to add a little more character to some of these snugglers with fun modifications -- starting with some overalls!
This pattern modification adds some farm yard fun your Millie the MooMoo Cow Snuggler Pattern. While I used Millie for this post, you can use this modification for any Cosy Snuggler.

- 6.5 mm + 7 mm crochet hooks
- 12 mm safety eyes
- scissors
- tapestry needle
- fiberfill stuffing

ABBREVIATIONS (US terms)*:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- slst = slip stitch
- hdc = half double crochet
- st(s) = stitch(es)

HELPFUL NOTES*:
- I crochet using the yarn over/yarn over method.
- This pattern mod will work for any Cosy Snuggler.

THE SNOUT, EARS, HORNS, TAIL, and HEAD:
Crochet all parts of the pattern as written in the colours you like best for your cow!
THE ARMS:
Rounds 1 to 4 - follow the pdf pattern
Rounds 5 to 9 - colour change to the shirt colour (white used) and follow the pdf pattern
TRIM: Working with surface stitches, attach with a slst to any loop at round 5 shown below, and chain 1, then work 1 hdc in each st around, slst into the first stitch to join.
Weave in the starting and finishing tail.
THE LEGS:
Rounds 1 to 4 - follow the pdf pattern
Rounds 5 to 7 - colour change to the overalls colour (blue used) and follow the pdf pattern
TRIM: Working with surface stitches, attach with a slst to any loop at round 5 shown below, and chain 1, then work 1 hdc in each st around, slst into the first stitch to join.
Weave in the starting and finishing tail.
THE BODY:
Crochet rounds 1 to 3 in the shirt colour (white used), then colour change to the overalls colour (blue used) for the remaining body rounds.
ASSEMBLE:
Follow the assembly instructions on the pattern (including the no-sew instructions if preferred). Be sure to assemble your cow snuggler before moving onto the overalls modifications.
THE OVERALLS:
- The overalls are worked in rows. Chain 1 and turn at the end as noted.

Row 1 of the overalls is worked using surface stitches.
- The first two rows are worked using hdc, the third row is worked using sc.
Use the 6.5 mm hook and the overalls colour (blue used).
- At round 3 of the front of the body, find the 6 center stitches.
- With a slip knot on the hook, in the first of the 6 center sts (marked with x below) attach with a slst and ch1. You will work row 1 across the 6 sts in the direction of the arrow.
Row 1 - 1 hdc in 6 sts across (5) ch1 and turn
Row 2 - 1 hdc in each st across (6) ch1 and turn
Row 3 - (1 sc, dec) x 2 (4)
Fasten off and leave a long tail.
Sew the top of the overalls (the 4 sc) to the body centered between rounds 1 + 2, and weave in the ends.
THE OVERALLS STRAPS:
Use the 6.5 mm hook and the overalls colour (blue used).
- With your snuggler upside-down, attach with a slst to the front of the body in the corner of the overalls you just crocheted (marked with x below).
Chain 12*, place the strap over the arm and around to the back (do not twist the chain). Attach to the back of the body with a slst between rounds 4 + 5. Be sure to attach so that the strap is tight to the body.
*Add or remove chain sts as needed to best suit your snuggler!
Weave the ends through the slst to fully secure.
Repeat for the other side.
And there is your adorable snuggler with overalls! A simply modification to add endless colour options and spunk.
