FREE MINI CROWN CROCHET PATTERN

ABBREVIATIONS (US Terms):

  • ch = chain
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • sc = single crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch

MATERIAL NEEDED:

  • Medium weight yarn (4)
    • Colours used: Lion Brand, Heartland, Canyonlands (yellow)
    • Colours used: Lion Brand Heartland, Capitol Reef (pink)
  • 4 mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Any of your favourite Cosy crochet patterns

NOTES:

  • The crown is crocheted with joined rounds.
  • I crochet using the yarn over/yarn over method.
  • The ch1 at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch. Work the first stitch of the round in the same stitch as the slip stitch, unless noted otherwise.
  • The numbers within parentheses at the end of each round/row are the total number of stitches for that round [example: (18)].
  • The stitches noted as “[...,...,...]” are to be worked in the same stitch for round 4.
  • Repeat the stitches between the parentheses noted as (...,...,...,...) x the number of times noted.
  • You can adjust the size of the crown by adding or removing sts in 3 stitch counts (example: for a smaller crown, start with chain 15, for a larger crown, start with chain 21).

PATTERN:

Round 1 – chain 18 (18) sl st to the first chain stitch to join into a circle, chain 1

Be sure you do not twist the chain when joining.

Round 2 – 18 sc around (18) sl st to the first sc, ch 1

Round 3 – 18 sc around (18) sl st to the first sc (this counts as the first sl st of round 4)

Round 4 – (1 sl st in the next st, [1 hdc, ch2, 1 hdc] in the next st, 1 sl st in the next st) x 6 (36) sl st to the first st of round 4

Bind off and leave a long tail to attach.

You will have 6 spikes (alternative sizes: 5 spikes if you start with a chain 15, 7 spikes if you start with a chain 21)

ATTACHING:

With the tapestry needle, sew to the top of the head of your favourite Cosy pattern, sewing around the entire base of the crown directly to the head! Instant perfection.
